Today, my three friends and myself went to the local McDonald’s for some lunch after our dek-hockey game. My one friend, who knows I watch ponies, points to the toy display for the happy meals and says “This is why we couldn’t bring [friend-R], he’d go nuts for those.” I look over and remember that McD’s has pony toys now, so I return and plan, silently, to get one today. The same friend sees my smile and says “You’re going to get one now, aren’t you?” I told him I was.
At the counter, I ask for my usual #5 (Angus Deluxe), no onions, medium drink. I also ask “Can I get a girl toy, as well?” The lady behind the counter just nods and says “okay” in an uncaring tone. I got to the soda fountain, fill up my drink with delicious Dr. Pepper and Root Beer, and return to the counter to wait. I get my burger and fries and the lady comes back asking if I got my toy, which I had not. I say so and she goes and puts one inside a happy-meal box and puts it on my tray.
At the table we’re sitting at, I open the happy-meal box and pull out FREAKIN’ PINKIE PIE (fuck yea) and open up the package. I show it to my friends quickly and put it away for later, knowing they don’t give two shits about the show or my pony interests. They don’t care for it, but just smile and continue on with their meal anyway.
The friend who pointed them out, stating friend-R could not be here, always says that, while he doesn’t like the show, he doesn’t mind being with me around the pony-stuff because I “don’t try to rub it in my face.” Friend-R does. A lot. All the time. If he’s not talking about Nintendo, Hockey, or Lego’s, he’s talking about ponies. Constantly. Needless to say, he’s the annoying Brony to the pleasant Brony-Friend. He also saw the College Humor “My Little Brony” short, and decided to call me “My Little Brony” at the restaurant.
Needless to say, I have the some of the best friends ever… who don’t give a fuck what I like and accept my weirdness for what it is and don’t judge me for being me. Because we’re all fucking weird. And that’s what makes being friends with them fun.
